MBF Business Conclave ‘Privitti’ emphasized on more skills during this pandemic

Bhubaneswar: Xavier School of Commerce (XSC), Xavier University, Bhubaneswar (XUB) conducted its annual business conclave. InfinX along with the XSC corporate relations team organized Privitti’20 on September 25, 2020. The theme for the conclave was, “Pandemic Pandora – Fear and Anxiety to Hope and Pride”.

The conclave was ennobled by reputed speakers, faculty members, and students. It was inaugurated by Dr. P.K. Mohanty (Dean, XSC), who was also moderator for the session. He spoke about the plethora of ailments that COVID 19 has brought upon us and also emphasized on the fact that we have completed 6 months of the existing pandemic situation.

To embrace the occasion, the speakers were Anand Singh (Co-Founder, Wilson Financial Services), Pankaj Rai (Senior Vice President, Strategy Wells Fargo), Rabindra Jena (Strategy and Program Management, Credit Suisse),and Saket Mehrotra (CA, CS by profession with 6+ years of Experience in Finance Domain)

Mr. Singh started the day by mentioning the worldwide job loss and compared it with the economic slump we had faced back in 2008. He emphasized on the fact that there are a lot of opportunities in the IT and Finance sector and this is the time we need to strive hard enough to learn more skills because skills are more important than just degrees. The speaker was heard quoting “It is the darkest before dawn.”

Mr. Mehrotra divided his part into two parts and mentioned that Indians majorly invest in gold and real estate because there is a lack of understanding in the stock market and proceeded to say that it is necessary to create frameworks for working from the ground levels along with being patient and trusting the process.

Mr. Pankaj Rai closely focused on the concept of 5c’s that included Curiosity, Communication, Compassionate, Creativity, and Conviction. He motivated the students by telling them that anything can be overcome by hope and perseverance and drew parallels from the world of investments as well.

Mr. Jena hit the deck by telling the students to learn more and more and to focus more on the journey than the end goal. He reminded students of the pool of opportunities that exist only if students just work hard and believe in themselves.

The conclave concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. Ashok Kumar Mishra (Associate Professor, XSC). The session was interactive and the students of XSC contributed to it by asking relevant questions. The panel encouraged the students to never lose hope and keep doing what they want by believing in themselves and working hard.
